SHILLONG: After a fluctuating battle, Pohkseh eventually made it home with a 3-2 win over Mawlai to register their first Shillong Premier League win on Saturday afternoon at the JN Sports Complex.

The newly-promoted side gave away the lead twice, before staging a prominent comeback to win the match.

Banshanlang Kharbamon’s 20th minute conversion provided the first lead for Mawlai, after doing a fine job in beating the keeper.

But four minutes later, Pohkseh levelled when Martin Marboh sent a shot into the net to place his side in contention.

A tight performance in their goalless draw against Langsning seemed to have inspired the young Pohkseh team as they put pressure on Mawlai.

However, Dapbor Poe scored a 35th minute goal to give Mawlai their second lead of the match.

Just as things looked positive for Mawlai, who are yet to win an SPL match this season, Sancel Koirang netted a 45th minute equaliser to keep Pohkseh in contention.

Finally, it was Andy Mawthoh’s 72nd minute goal that saved the day for Pohkseh as they held on to a final 3-2 score and crushed the hopes of Mawlai.

Mawlai, have at least put their name on the scoreboard; the two goals on Saturday were their first this season.

Meanwhile, Langsning and Nangkiew Irat played out an uninspiring 0-0 draw in their SPL match under wet conditions.

Neither side was able to create a breakthrough, as the soppy evening made life difficult for the two teams.

Langsning have moved up to third place with five points, while Nangkiew remain in second with seven.

Thanks to their win, Pohkseh join Royal Wahingdoh and Malki on four points.

On Monday, Pohksehwill be back in action as they play Rangdajied United at 3:15pm at the JN Sports Complex, Polo Grounds.
