London: Witnesses to the attack on a shopping centre in Nairobi that left 39 people dead and over 150 injured have said that gunmen executed anyone who could not recite an Islamic prayer.

According to Sky News, Saadia Ahmed revealed that the attackers released people who were able to prove they could speak Arabic. She said that a colleague of her said he was Muslim and recited something in Arabic and they let him go as well.

Another witness said that the attackers were not speaking Swahili and they spoke something that seemed like Arabic or Somali. Large groups of people were seen streaming out of the centre, some of whom were covered in blood and clutching small children. (ANI)
