SVEEP II awareness campaign held

NONGSTOIN: In order to tap the talent of the youth in different aspects, various competitions was organised by the District Administration, South West Khasi Hills District, as part of the District Arts and Culture Festival cum awareness campaign on SVEEP II for enhancement of the enrolment in the electoral process in the District. The programme was held at Multi Purpose Hall DC’s Office complex at Mawkyrwat on Tuesday.

Speaking as the chief guest, South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Smti R. Lyngdoh, highlighted the importance of enrolment of every individual who has attained the age of 18 years in the electoral rolls so as to enable the person to exercise the voting right during election.

The Deputy Commissioner also appealed to all traditional chiefs, headmen and secretaries of different villages in the district to extend their cooperation with the District Election office and the Booth Level Officers for the success of the enrolment and electoral process in the District.

Quiz competition, folk song, folk dance, indigenous instrumental music competition, creative writing, painting and cartooning competition were held on the occasion.

The meeting was attended by R Iangrai, ADC, and other dignitaries including KL Nongbri, ADC, Election, and MS Sangma, ADC.
