SHILLONG: General secretary of KSU Mawryngkneng unit, and the assistant general secretary of the KSU central body on Wednesday clarified that he is in no way connection to the attempted arson case at BDO office in Mawryngkneng on Tuesday.

In a statement issued here on Wednesday, Lawai brushed aside allegations leveled against him by the police who had claimed that he was involved in the attempted arson case but managed to escape when police chased him.

The police had mentioned that they chased down the vehicle driven by Bankerlang Syiemlieh at around 1 am on Tuesday, but Lawai had managed to escape.

“I was at home since 8 pm and at that time when the police had claimed to have chased me, I was asleep at my house located at Mawryngkneng Mawmang,” Lawai stated.

Lawai also said that the allegations had been framed by the police to tarnish his image as well as the image of the KSU. “They have forced the driver, who is not a KSU member, to take my name just because he happens to be my neighbour,” Lawai added.
