SHILLONG: Volunteers of the pro-ILP groups have now begun resorting to attacks on private and public properties during the day time, marking a shift in their modus operandi as such incidents were earlier reported only during the night hours.

The spate of arson attacks, especially during the day time, continued on Friday with six unidentified miscreants attempting to torch a government vehicle (Scorpio ML 02 0437) allotted to the IGP (CID), BR Rana, in his residence at Macabe Road, 4th Furlong here in the afternoon.

According to the police, five to six boys entered the house of the police official at around 12.30 pm and lobbed two petrol bombs, one of which one exploded and damaged two tyres of the vehicle.

In another incident, unknown miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at the saw mill of one Rajesh Gurung at Lumshyiap, Nongmynsong at around 2.30 pm on Friday. The fire was, however, doused in time and no damaged was done.

Unknown miscreant on Friday afternoon set ablaze a government vehicle (Maruti Gypsy ML 01 4181) allotted to the SDO of PWD Nongstoin, Marcus Pohsnem, at Mawlai Umjaiur. The vehicle was partially damaged.
