‘Send off’ for U-17 squad

SHILLONG: The Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs held a send off ceremony on Friday for the 16-member squad of O M Roy Memorial Secondary School (OMRMSS) which is set to represent the State in the Under-17 Subroto Mukherjee Cup in New Delhi.

The squad led by coach Jeffery Warlarpih and manager LK Syiemlieh would leave Shillong on Sunday.

Speaking on the occasion, Director, Sport and Youth Affairs, FM Dopth urged the boys to give their best shot in the event.

“It would be great honour for the State if the team could win the tournament,” Dopth said adding that the event is a good launching pad for their future.

St Anthony’s HSS which is representing the State in the under-14 category of the same tournament left the State earlier this week.

U-17 squad: Belton Lartang, Ynpynkupbor Nongbsap, Mebanshan Suting, Michaelson Kurbah, Lenningstar Kynter, Allen Camper L. Nongbri, Goodhope PreciousLyngdoh, Jefferson Nongrud, Honourlucy Mark Nongbri, Banshanlang Sten, Khraw-wanlang Shadap, Jerrimon Shylla,m Jimmynson Nongtdu, Mebankhraw K. Wahlang and Superfine Suting.
