Srinagar: A car showroom employee was injured in Srinagar on Saturday after he panicked and accidentally ran into a glass window on hearing gun shots, police said.

Abdul Ghani Mir, Kashmir inspector general of police (IGP), told IANS that the showroom’s employee heard firing in the Sant Nagar area and injured himself after accidentally hitting a glass window in the establishment while trying to take cover.

“He has been taken to the bone and joint hospital for treatment,” the IGP told.

There was some firing on the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad highway when the security forces’ vehicles passed but there was no official confirmation yet whether there was an exchange of fire between guerrillas and security forces. Traffic movement on the highway was halted for some time after the incident. (IANS)
