Financial help extended to BPL families

SHILLONG: The Monitoring Cum Implementation Committee of South Shillong constituency has informed that the committee has extended financial help for various BPL families, BPL students , medical treatment for fire victims, cancer patients, disabled mentally retarded patients, landslide victims (natural calamities), church committees, puja committees, school and college committees, sports, social, cultural clubs, self employment for widows, dorbar shnong and NGOs to 99 beneficiaries for a grand total of Rs 8, 43, 171.

The financial help has been given under the discretionary grants and 6 months’ salary earnings of local MLA Sanbor Shullai who is also the chairman of the committee.

According to the committee, the financial help and support for the day to day needs, and unforeseen incidents for emergent financial help and support to the people of South Shillong constituency was planned, initiated and recommended by Shullai.
