SHILLONG: With Durga puja knocking at the door, the United Democratic Party (UDP) on Monday appealed the pro- ILP activists to give due importance to sentiments of those celebrating the Durga puja while agitating.

UDP working president Paul Lyngdoh on Monday said the party in a resolution decided to appeal the pro-ILP groups to show due respect to the religious sentiments of those celebrating the Puja while embarking on any agitational programme.

The UDP leader also requested police to refrain from taking any stringent approach like carrying our random arrests or subjecting innocent citizens to undue harassment.

Regional parties’ meet: In another resolution, UDP has decided to attend the all regional parties conclave hosted by the Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) to be held in Guwahati on November 21 and 22.

“We are sending our delegation to this conclave,” Lyngdoh said.
