SHILLONG: The controversial Chancellor of CMJ University Chandra Mohan Jha reappeared before the CID sleuths on Tuesday. Confirming this, an official of CID, however, refused to divulge anything further. “We can speak on the matter only after the next hearing in Supreme Court scheduled for October 8,” the official said.

Earlier Jha had appeared before the CID from September 19 to 21. Later he rushed to Bihar to attend to his ailing wife.
The official also said that the CID had returned the keys of the University’s Laitumkhrah office to Jha on Saturday last as per the Supreme Court directive.
It may be mentioned that Jha had obtained anticipatory bail from the Supreme Court in July and the apex court would take up Jha’s bail issue on October 8.
The Supreme Court recently gave the Meghalaya government three months’ time to take a decision on the recommendation of former Governor Ranjit Shekhar Mooshahary to dissolve CMJ University.
Mooshahary, in his capacity as visitor to the private university, had on June 12 recommended to the state government that the university be dissolved according to Section 48 of the CMJ University Act, 2009.
