SHILLONG: In view of the ensuing Durga Puja celebrations in Shillong and keeping in mind the heavy traffic congestion, partial restrictions have been imposed on traffic movement from October 10 to 14.
No trucks would be allowed to enter Shillong city after 10 am till midnight. Similarly restrictions have also been imposed in Ri Bhoi, West Jaintia Hills, East Jaintia Hills, South West Khasi Hills and West Khasi Hills districts.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (Eastern Region) A Sunn informed that multi-axle trailers will not be allowed to enter Ri Bhoi and East Jaintia Hills districts during the said period.
All trucks proceeding towards Jaintia Hills would have to ply through the Shillong Bypass only.
