SHILLONG: A street in Argentina has been named after the Khasi priest, Fr Patrick Warjri by the parishioners of the Holy Family Church at Pico Truncado (Patagonia, Argentina) to mark the 50th year of the founding of the parish.
Fr Warjri, who belongs to the Salestian Province of Dimapur and also a Salestian missionary of Mawlai Parish, had served as the parish priest of Holy Family Church at Pico Truncado with much dedication and zeal for the past ten years.
The city of Pico Truncado, also known as the Gas Capital, is located in the Deseado area, north of the province of Santa Cruz, 60 km from the Atlantic Ocean and 200 meters above the sea. This town is the third largest city in the province of Santa Cruz.
A resident of Mawlai Mawroh, Fr Warjri was in for a shock when he visited the parish for the celebration of its golden jubilee on September 28 when the Secretary of the Local Government, Marcelo Aguilar unveiled the street sign named after Warjri.
During the toast to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the Holy Family parish, Fr Warjri recalled many pleasant moments lived during his stay as parish priest, a release stated. Even social media networks witnessed it and echoed the chorus “Patrick!!! No te vamos a dejar ir, ya est’s en nuestros corazones y ahora en una calle truncadense! “ (“Patrick! We will not let go, you`re in our hearts and now in a street of Truncado! “) According to Fr Barnes Mawrie, Fr Warjri, who is also the former director of North East Region Youth commission (NERYC), is currently in Argentina and will return to the state only next year.
