SHILLONG: A boy in his school uniform drove a VIP vehicle (ML 05-F-8888) through the heart of the city, creating havoc on Monday morning.

The boy was seen driving an official vehicle with red light and siren during the rush hour (around 8 am) endangering other school children and motorists between Dhankheti and Barik point.

Taking note of the incident RTI activist Angela Rangad lodged a complaint with the SP Traffic, Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary in charge Transport.

“It’s appalling that while hundreds of other children are struggling to get to school in over packed pool taxis and walking on streets, a student is misusing public funds and privilege,” Rangad said while demanding accountability on such abuses of power.

Reportedly, the boy is a close relative of a legislator. However, police refused to divulge the identity of the boy.
