Second accused arrested

SHILLONG: Two days after the BSNL warehouse at Mawlai Mawiong was allegedly torched by miscreants, police arrested the second accused in this connection.

The arrested person has been identified as Rodingston Mawlong. Earlier, police arrested one Alanlas Khyllait in this regard.

Both the accused have been remanded in four-day police custody.

Meanwhile, giving a different version of the incident, guards of the warehouse informed that the prior to the incident, some technical snags were visible at the office of the warehouse a week ago which could have been caused the fire on Sunday night.

According to the guards, for about a week before the incident, sparks were seen at the office of the warehouse and the same was not rectified.

The version of the guards was seconded by the local residents living in the vicinity of the warehouse who claimed that the fire was caused due to explosion of the batteries kept inside the office of the warehouse.
