Illicit liquor seized in Tura

SHILLONG: The Achik Mothers’ Association (AMA) and Garo Hills Sentinel of Human Rights have seized eight packets of liquors from illegal dealers at New Tura area on Tuesday. The NGOs along with local police raided the house of an individual around 500 meters from Araimile out post where liquors were being sold illegally to the public and minors. The seized materials have been handed over to the Araimile Police and the matter is being pursued by the local police.

“We are taking up matters involving local youths and minors such as alcoholism, drugs and women trafficking in Garo Hills which is breeding at a very fast rate,” the NGOs said in statement.
