CM’s Career Guidance Programme
TURA: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma will on Thursday inaugurate a career guidance cum coaching centre for competitive examinations and professional courses at Tura SMELC centre in Dakopgre.
The scheme is being launched under the Chief Minister’s Career Guidance Programme and is aimed at providing career counseling and coaching for civil services at the central and state level, armed forces and other public sector services such as nationalized banks and insurance companies.
The coaching centre will provide much needed training to aspirants from the five districts of Garo Hills. The courses at the centre will be conducted by Jain’s IAS coaching centre. Two MoUs have been signed under this scheme, one is with Jain’s Institute for coaching and the other for outreach with Bakdil NGO. Retired IAS officer Ashok K Tigidi would be the Chief Counselor and Chief Mentor of the coaching centre.
The Director of Jain’s Institute, Dr. AK Jain, while interacting with the media in Tura on Tuesday gave a brief account on the background of his institute, the proposed strategy for coaching, the criteria for selection of students and the organizational structure. He said that the first batch of courses could start within the next few weeks.
The State Government intends to provide the coaching free of cost, though, as an approach to prevent mid-course drop outs, the students would have to deposit a nominal sum of Rs 5000 to 10,000 which would be refunded after the completion of the course.
