Pro-ILP groups reduce shutdown duration

SHILLONG: The 13 pro-ILP groups have decided to reduce the duration of the bandh scheduled on October 17 from 24 hours to 12 hours.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday, KSU vice president Frederick Kharmawphlang said that the bandh would now be effective from 5 am to 5 pm.
“We have taken this decision following a request from a section of the church bodies,” Kharmawphlang said.
He also urged the students of National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) to attend their examination scheduled on Thursday.
While expressing their firmness over the implementation of ILP, the KSU leader earlier on Tuesday had made it clear that they would agree to have a dialogue with the state government provided the latter agrees to discuss only ILP.
The agitating groups had suspended their agitation from October 10 to 16 in order to allow celebration of Durga Puja and Id in the State.
