SHILLONG: Organisers of the two-day State-level career guidance-cum-sports meet scheduled to be held on October 18 and 19, have urged the pro-ILP NGOs not to hold any agitational programmes on these dates and allow the programme to be held as per schedule.
The event, initiated by the Ri Bhoi district administration and organised by the Lynti Jam Welfare Development Association, is designed especially for the differently-able persons of the district and aims at providing a platform for them to showcase their talents in various fields.
“Disturbances on these days in the form of bandhs or road blockades will prevent this two-day programme from being held and will ruin the expectations of the participants as well as the organisers,” the Association said, adding that programmes designed for the differently-able do not happen every time and ‘a cancellation of the same will dampen the spirit of these people who are ready to participate in the programme’.
