SHILLONG: MLP played some exciting football, but three quick goals from Rangdajied United FC saw them win their Shillong Premier League match 3-1 at the JN Stadium, Polo, on Friday.
Lammi Passah opened the scoring for the police team in the 21st minute and MLP were able to hold onto the lead up until the 69th minute when Brazilian Edmar Figueira equalised with a powerful left-footed strike.
Most of the action in the second session was played in MLP’s half, although the police had a couple of half chances.
MLP’s goalkeeper tried his level best, but RUFC proved to be adept at getting into good positions away from the defenders.
Man-of-the-Match Banraplang Nongdhar scored a brace, with his goals coming on the back of  Figueira’s effort in the 71st and 75th minutes, taking the game away from MLP.
Rangdajied have now won their first eight matches and have earned 24 points, continuing their reign at the top of the standings.
MLP remain in sixth place with six points.
