New Delhi: President Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday lamented that India’s scenic northeast region has been witnessing conflict and violence.

“Northeast India is a rich region full of scenic beauty, flora and fauna, high culture, dance and music. Unfortunately for some time, it has witnessed conflict, clashes and violence,” he told a group of 42 students from Assam’s Kokrajhar and Chirang districts (Bodo region) and Manipur’s Shangshak (Ukhrul region) when they called on him at the Rashtrapati Bhawan here.
