SHILLONG: The FKJGP has condemned the State Police for booking one of its leaders, Eldie N Lyngdoh, who was arrested recently, under the Meghalaya Preventive Detention (MPDA) Act.

In a release issued here on Monday, FKJGP president Joe Marwein said the arrest of Lyngdoh from Ri Bhoi was simply based on allegations leveled against the leader.

“This act only goes to indicate the clear intention of the state government to govern by force,” Marwein said adding that the arrest shows the weakness in the police’s intelligence department which has been unable to trace the miscreants responsible for the stray incidents during the agitation of the pro-ILP activists.
