Ampareen receives PhD degree

President Pranab Mukherjee hands over PhD degree to Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh on Tuesday.

SHILLONG: It was a momentous occasion for Urban Affairs Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh when she received the coveted PhD degree from President Pranab Mukherjee in the presence of majority of her Cabinet colleagues including Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma, Forest and Environment Prestone Tynsong, Transport Minister HDR Lyngdoh.

Lyngdoh was among 114 scholars who were PhD degree at the 21st convocation of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) here on Tuesday.

Later speaking to The Shillong Times, Lyngdoh said that she was very happy to achieve this feat.

“It was a life-time experience to receive the degree from the President of the country,” she said.

Lyngdoh has been conferred doctorate degree by NEHU for her thesis -“Influence of Media on Public Opinion during the periods of Social Unrest: A Study of Meghalaya”.

She did her research under the supervision of Dr Moses M Naga and Dr P Hangsing.
