Arson victim recuperating

SHILLONG: Vikash Nandwal, a victim of an arson attack at Motphran, is recovering well in a Delhi hospital. This was informed by Home Minister Roshan Warjri here on Thursday.

Nandwal, owner of a shop at Motphran in city, was set afire in broad daylight after pouring petrol inside his shop, when the businessman was attending to customers.

Soon after the incident, he was admitted to Nazareth from where he was forwarded to Nemcare Hospital in Guwahati.

After a few days of treatment there, he was airlifted to a Delhi hospital where he is presently undergoing treatment and his condition is stated to be improving.

It may be mentioned that Government is bearing all the expense of Nandwal’s treatment.

Two Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) activists were picked up by police in this connection.

She also claimed that the the law and order situation in Shillong is under control.

“Government is taking all measures required to maintain law and order in the district and in the state and the government agencies is working very hard,” she said.
