Telecast
Doordarshan has made arrangements for live telecast of the Monolith Festival on satellite mode on DDK Shillong, and DD Bharati on October 25 and 26 from 11 am onwards. All cable operators are to take DDK Shillong signal on satellite mode. The specifications are INSAT 3A, downlink frequency 4091.5 polarization-vertical symbol rate 6.25.
Admission
The entrance examination for admission of boys to Class VI and IX in Sainik School Goalpara for the session 2014-2015 will be held on January 5. For admission to Class VI, boys should be 10-11 years of age as on July 1, 2014 while for class IX, the age should be 13-14 years.
Conference
The Manipuri Sahitya Parishad, Meghalaya will hold its 9th Annual Conference at UCC auditorium, Barapani, on October 27 and 28 at 9 am. The conference will be attended by writers from Manipur, Assam, Tripura, Mizoram, Nagaland and Meghalaya. There will also be book release, award, interactive session, poets’ meet and cultural programme.
Cleaning drive
A cleaning drive and an awareness programme was organised by the students of the Social Work department of Martin Luther Christian University at Happy Valley on October 18. This drive was organised in collaboration with iLEAD (initiative for livelihood education and development).
Celebration
The Salestian Sisters of Don Bosco (FMA) will celebrate the diamond jubilee of the foundation of their province ‘Immaculate Heart of Mary’, Shillong on October 26 at Auxilium Girls HS School, Nongthymmai.
Workshop
A programme ‘Messengers of Peace’ was launched by the Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides recently at the State Headquarters. A message was propagated that the public should be encouraged to join with the Scouts and guides to bring peace through their programmes and become messenger of peace.
Concert
The A•chik Baptist Centre Youth Fellowship is organising Gospel Concert at State Central Library on October 26 from 1 pm. Guest artists Lashmuni C Marak from Tura will perform in the concert.

Ceremony
The prize distribution ceremony of Rilbong Durga Puja Committee will be held on October 26 at 3.30 pm. A drama will be staged on the occasion.
Conclave
Hmar leaders from various oranization across India held the ‘Hmar Leaders Conclave 2013’ at Umran, Ri Bhoi, from October 23-24. The seminar organized by the Hmar Inpui (supreme house) discussed the problems and prospect of the Hmar language and literature and how to further develop the language.
