Sacred Heart Theological College completes 75 years

SHILLONG: Concluding the yearlong celebration of the Platinum Jubilee Year in style, Sacred Heart Theological College, Mawlai staged a nine scene play ‘The Miracle Man’ a musical drama on the life of Jesus Christ on October 24-26.
The concert is an attempt to illustrate the miracles performed by Jesus Christ two thousand years ago. The performance of the students of theology enthralled the audience who attended the concert here on Saturday.
In his speech, Rev Fr. Jose Vetta, the Rector of the college said that the musical concert is an occasion to draw people nearer to the life and works of Jesus Christ. “On the occasion of the Year of Faith proclaimed by the universal Catholic Church, a concert of this sort will help people strengthen their belief and trust in Jesus,” he said.
Fr. Jose added that the curtain of the yearlong celebration of the Platinum Jubilee will be brought down with the musical concert.
During the jubilee year different programme was organized by the college to mark the occasion. The most significant among the programmes was the National Seminar organized in the month of September where experts from all over the country took part in it.  The dance steps by the students of Sacred Heart Girls Higher Secondary School, Mawlai added colour to the beautiful and well lit stage. The scenes began with the calling of the four fishermen on the banks of the Lake Galilee and proceeded to the different miracles performed by Jesus Christ as scenes proceeded.
The concert culminated with the resurrection scene. The combination of the actors, the well designed costume, the sound system, the lighting of the stage and the effects added life to the whole performance.
