SHILLONG: The Western Youth Federation (WYF) has urged upon the State Government to set up a blood bank at the Nongstoin Civil Hospital.

A WYF delegation led by its president TS Shangrit, on Tuesday met Health Family Welfare Minister AL Hek and also submitted a formal representation in this connection.

“The Minister has assured to give due consideration to their demand of a blood bank at Nongstoin Civil Hospital,” Shangrit said after the meeting.

Shangrit also informed that the Minister agreed to their arguments that West Khasi Hills being one of the oldest districts deserved to have its own blood bank to cater to the needs of the people during emergency.
