Demand for labourers

SHILLONG: The GSU, East Zone-Williamnagar has announced fresh agitations following the state government’s failure to provide sufficient labourers along with the machineries in the construction-side at Warima, starting from November 4 with the poster campaign.

According to the release issued by the vice president of GSU-East Zone, Abhijit T Sangma, the union had resolved to resort to agitations starting with the Poster Campaign on November 4 (Monday) and Shouting of Slogan on November 8 (Friday) in the district Head Quarter of East Garo Hills, Williamnagar.

Sangma said that since the ultimatum of 20 (twenty) days served to the Government of Meghalaya demanding to provide the sufficient labourers along with the machineries had expired on October 29, nothing has been done so far and no intimation or response had been received from the Government side in this connection.

“Therefore, the union had decided to intensify the demand, until the sufficient labourers with machineries are witness seeing in the construction-side at Warima, East Garo Hills,” Sangma said adding that if the Government disregard to the demand, the union will be compelled to resort to the next course of agitations which will be discussed in the meeting to be held on November 11.
