TURA: Two State governmentofficers, including a senior police man, narrowly missed being a target of the GNLA militants who laid the ambush at Kolapara village near Ramchenga on Tuesday morning.

According to official sources, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Galbreth Momin and Gasuapara BDO Ms Dimserita Sangma had passed through the very spot where the ambush was laid thirty minutes before the incident took place.

While the DSP was coming from Tura en route to Baghmara, the lady officer was on her way from Gasuapara to the district headquarters.

“Both the officers were coming to Baghmara to take part in a public peace rally against militancy called by the administration and citizens of the district,” informed officials from Baghmara.

Around the same time, a truck load of armed BSF personnel had also moved through the main road.
