Trader kidnapped in Rongjeng

NONGSTOIN: Suspected GNLA militants on Wednesday abducted a coal merchant from Rongjeng area of East Garo Hills.

Reliable source informed on Friday that the coal trader identified as one Gopal Sharma, who had business interests in Shallang, West Khasi Hills, was abducted at around 11.30 am, while he was on his way to Shallang.

Police suspect that the trader might have been kidnapped for ransom. A joint operation has been launched by West Khasi Hills and East Garo Hills Police to trace the trader.
