NONGSTOIN: The Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM) West Khasi Hills unit on Friday called off its proposed 12-hour West Khasi Hills bandh on November 12.
HANM said the withdrawal came after the intervention of the HANM central body which had reached an understanding with the District Administration following a recent meeting between HANM and the West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner.
The Government’s assurance on the release of HANM finance secretary Gabriel Sohlang, who was arrested recently for his alleged involvement in various arson cases, was another reason behind the bandh withdrawal, the HANM informed.
