UNESCO seminar to begin from November 25

Guwahati: Preparations are afoot to welcome dignitaries from UNESCO Clubs and Associations of India and other countries who are arriving in Guwahati on a two-day visit to attend an international seminar on November 25 and 26.

At a meeting with senior officials here on Wednesday, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi asked the General Administration Department (GAD), the nodal department, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Departments to make all-out preparedness to make the stay of foreign and Indian delegates memorable in the state.

Dignitaries from countries like Russia, Vietnam, Nigeria, South Korea, Italy, Austria, Kazakhastan, Cyprus, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal and from different states of India are expected to arrive in the state on November 24.

Director General of UNESCO Irina Bokova is also likely to attend the international seminar on culture of peace. Cultural programmes have been lined up to showcase the rich heritage of the state.

The delegates will be taken to Pobitora, Hajo, Sualkuchi, Kamakhya temple, Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra cultural complex, nearby tea garden and river cruise on the Brahmaputra.

Tourism Department will make an audio-visual presentation on the rich tourism potential of the state. (UNI)
