Arson victim shifted to Guwahati

SHILLONG: The victim of Saturday’s arson case at Bishnupur – Bisheshwar Das – was shifted to Nemcare Hospital in Guwahati on Sunday afternoon at the expense of the State Government for better treatment.

Das, owner of Babua Tea Stall at Bishnupur sustained 50 per cent burn injuries when three boys came to the tea stall and poured petrol on him and set him on fire at around 11 am on Saturday. The victim was immediately rushed to Woodland Hospital.

The decision to shift the patient to Guwahati was taken by State Government on Sunday with the consent of the patient. Das was accompanied by two doctors from Shillong Civil Hospital and he was shifted ) from Woodland Hospital at around 12.30 pm. According to sources from Woodland Hospital, the patient was stable when he was shifted from the hospital.

“His condition was stable and he was speaking when he was taken from here,” the hospital sources said.

Meanwhile, police informed that they were yet to trace the miscreants involved in the case, and stated that the police would deal with the situation with firm hands.
