India, West Indies arrive in Kochi

Kochi: Raising the spirits of cricket buffs in this business city, the Indian and West Indies teams arrived here at the Nedumbassery international airport by a special chartered flight on Tuesday.

The teams were accorded a traditional welcome with percussion, Mohaniyattam, Kathakali and Theyyams dance shows.

The Indian team members, clad in blue T-shirts, came out from the airport first.

The West Indies team members in then followed. The teams were taken to hotel Taj, where they would take rest for the day.

The Indian team will have their net practice in the morning on Wednesday, while the West Indies would practice in the evening.

The teams will clash in the first ODI on November 21.

Kochi is all set to host its ninth one-day international at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium and all preparations for the highly-anticipated contest are almost in the final stages.

The wicket prepared by KCA curator was said to be bastsmen friendly, and there could be a feast of runs.

Steps have been taken to cover the outfield also in case of any expected rain spells.

According to KCA officials over 75 per cent of the tickets have been sold so far. (UNI)
