SHILLONG: South Tura MLA John Leslee Sangma has threatened to move a privilege motion against Community and Rural Development Minister Prestone Tynsong in the State Assembly for misleading the House regarding construction of a marketing hub at Tura during its October session.

During the Question Hour, Tynsong, while replying to a question on the status of Urban Marketing Hub at Tura opposite to Tura District Auditorium, had told the House that the construction work of the said hub had been completed.

However, speaking to media persons on Tuesday, Sangma, claimed that in reality, the building has not been completed and the work was still going on.

“In this way, the minister misled the House and the people of the state,” he added.

In his reply, Tynsong had said that a total amount of Rs 2. 6 crore had been sanctioned for the purpose and the construction of the marketing hub was carried out in compliance with the norms of the existing Meghalaya Building bye laws.

According to Sangma, no minister can mislead the House on any important public issue. He said the ruling Congress-led MUA Government has been willfully misleading the Assembly and the people of the state by giving false information on several important projects.
