SHILLONG: Search is on by the ANVC to trace out its ‘missing’ cadre Balsrang Sangma.

Though the ANVC has admitted that Sangma went missing on Friday evening from Tura, the militant outfit is not sure whether he formed a new militant organisation called Achik Tiger Force.

In a statement issued here on Thursday, Tangcha A.Sangma, assistant publicity secretary of ANVC, said that that only one of the cadres Balsrang Sangma has been missing from the camp since Friday evening along with an office vehicle and not seven cadres as reported. . An FIR was filed with the police on Saturday at Chandmari Beat House.

The vehicle, however, was found abandoned at Mission Compound, Tura.

Commenting on the missing cadre, the ANVC said: “Till date he is untraceable and we cannot confirm whether he has deserted the outfit and floated a new outfit or he has been kidnapped by persons unknown or other groups and the statement about the formation of Achik Tiger Force is a ploy to throw the police and our organisation off track from looking for him”.

“As for the report about the arms stolen from the armoury, we would like to clarify that there is no armoury at the liaison office as all the arms have been shifted from joint custody to the police reserve two years back. Moreover, there is no information about the whereabouts of Balsrang Sangma and if he has indeed deserted the outfit, he should inform someone from the organization”, the ANVC leader said.

The ANVC asserted that till any concrete information regarding his whereabouts is known, Balsrang is still part of the organization and “we will continue searching for him”.
