SHILLONG: Mawkhar delivered when it mattered and fashioned a 2-1 victory over Assam Regimental Centre in the final of the Third Division Super League, held at the JN Stadium, Polo, on Thursday.

In the 70-minute match, Kenneth Thabah put Mawkhar into the lead in the 15th minute before ARC’s Satkhu Khongshai equalised seven minutes later.

Bapu Lamin then gave the champions the lead again in first half stoppage time, a lead that Mawkhar held onto right to the end.

Both teams, by dint of finishing as the top two in the league, will take their place in the Second Division next season.

ARC had won all their previous matches in the Super League, even beating Mawkhar 2-1 on November 13.
