UALA throws back kidnap charge on ANVC-B

A’chik Liberation Army has blamed the breakaway faction of the ANVC (ANVC-B) for the disappearance of militant cadre Balsrang Sangma from the liaison office at Tura Youth Hostel on Friday last.

The militant chief of UALA, Singbirth Marak alias Norrok X Momin, has claimed that ANVC cadre Balsrang Sangma did not go on his own free will but has been abducted by the ANVC-B to target the parent organization.

“He (Balsrang) was driving ANVC leader Togan’s vehicle when he was intercepted by militants from the breakaway faction and taken away. The entire incident has the involvement of the ANVC-B,” claimed Norrok Momin while speaking to The Shillong Times.

The UALA chief also revealed that the attack on an ANVC vehicle at Megonggre village on the outskirts of Tura which had gone to locate Balsrang Sangma shortly after his disappearance was orchestrated by the ANVC-B.Meanwhile, West Garo Hills Superintendent of Police, Mukesh Kr Singh, said that the incident was investigated upon but ruled out any firing in the area.

“Our teams visited the spot and scouted the entire area but did not find evidence of any firing,” said the district police chief on Friday.
