Theft at BSNL office in West Jaintia Hills

SHILLONG: Two months after the October 6 fire incident at a BSNL warehouse at Mawlai Mawiong which resulted in destruction of materials worth over Rs 20 crore, security lapse was once again visible at another BSNL office in West Jaintia Hills.

As per a police complaint lodged by one T Lyngdoh, SDE of BSNL, on November 20 night, unknown miscreants broke into the BSNL Office at Mukhla in West Jaintia Hills and stole batteries and BTS Door valued around Rs 1,82,000.

Inquiry is on to ascertain how the miscreants broke into the BSNL office at a time when there is increased deployment of security in the wake of agitation by the pressure groups demanding implementation of ILP.

Juvenile escapes

A juvenile, who was arrested in connection with a robbery case, escaped from an observation home at Tura in West Garo Hills District on Tuesday, a delayed report said.DV Massar, District Social Welfare Officer of Tura lodged a complaint that on November 19 at around 11.30 am, the juvenile who was lodged at the observation home (boys), Tura in West Garo Hills in connection with the robbery case under Mendipathar police station, escaped from the observation home.
