SHILLONG: The 14 pressure groups demanding implementation of ILP in State are planning to hold a public rally in Shillong on November 30 to drum up support for their cause.

Indicating this here on Sunday, KSU general secretary Auguster Jyrwa said the leaders of all the pressure groups were expected to address the rally.

The pressure groups have decided not to have any other agitation programmes till November 30 as they have to prepare for the rally. The venue of the rally will be announced later.

The rally assumes significance in the context of the State Government’s decision to go ahead with the consultative meeting to discuss the Tenancy Bill despite the opposition from several quarters.

The pressure groups are annoyed as there was no official offer from the State Government for dialogue with them to end the impasse.

During the recent first meeting of the ministerial team headed by Community and Rural Development Minister Prestone Tynsong, students present at the venue protested against implementation of proposed Tenancy Bill by saying that no measure was mentioned in the Bill to check influx.
