Automobile workshops gutted in fire; loss Rs 30 lakh

JOWAI: Automobile workshops including a tyre retreading shop, a battery repair and service centre and a mechanical workshop were gutted in a fire that reportedly broke out at around 12:30 pm on Monday. Mechanical equipment and tools beside a machine used for retreading of tyres were completely damaged. A recovery van along was completely damaged while a Shaktiman and a four-wheel truck were partially damaged in the incident. The total loss according to the owners was Rs 30 lakh.
