SHILLONG: Royal CC and All Jaintia Cricket Association were victorious in their respective matches in the Shillong Cricket Association’s Platinum Jubilee Cup T20 Cricket Tournament at Polo Grounds on Tuesday.
In the first match, Ganesh Sahani’s 64 off 48 balls powered Royal CC to a total of 144/9 in 20 overs, with Md Nafeez and Swarajeet Das taking three wickets apiece for TNT Sputnik CC.
Swarajeet then came back to open the innings for TNT Sputnik and made 56 off 49 balls, but his team still fell five runs short of the target, ending on 139/5.
Rajiv Ray took 2-20 for the winners.
The second match was far less competitive, with AJCA beating Malki SC by 58 runs.
AJCA scored 121/6 with Jeffrey Lyting making 29 and Manish Sangma claiming three wickets.
Richard Paswett then destroyed Malki with his spell of bowling and he finished with figures of 5-23.
Wednesday’s matches will see Riatsamthiah SCC play Malki CC, while Lawmali SCC take on Miracle CC Garo Hills.
