Kohima: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) on Wednesday launched its first phase of agitation in the form of poster campaign demanding immediate removal of Imkong L Imchen from the state council of ministers and also dismissal of the Naga People’s Front (NPC) led DAN government.
NPCC general secretary Medokul Sophie told PTI that the poster campaign demanding Imchen’s immediate removal was launched throughout the state by the respective District Congress Committees this morning.
Except for Kohima, the campaign was progressing smoothly, he said adding that with the onset of the Hornbill Festival and scheduled visit of the President Pranab Mukherjee and other dignitaries, the Kohima District Administration has undertaken beautification drive and removed the posters from the prime areas.
The campaign also highlighted that Imchen, then Home Minister, was caught red handed with cash of Rs. 1.10 crore, arms and liquor in Wokha district by Assam rifles personnel during the state Assembly election campaign on February 18 and he should resign from his present portfolio of Minister for Health and Family Welfare for smooth conduct of the trial.(PTI)
