Assault on Jalaphet Rangbah Shnong
SHILLONG: The Dorbar Shnong of Jalaphet Bri Sumer along with the KSU Jalaphet Unit has decided to call for a 12-hour bandh on November 30 in the area in view of the recent assault on the Rangbah Shnong of Jalaphet Bri Sumer, Ken Syrti who succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.
“This bandh is called to mark our protest against the murder of our headman recently and this bandh will only be effective in areas within the jurisdiction of Jalaphet village” former Rangbah Shnong H Chyrmang said.
The bandh will prevent all shops from being opened and all local taxis and coal loaded vehicles from plying the streets except for some private vehicles who will ply on the day.
“We urged the shop owners and all the resident to cooperate with us and to come out in large numbers to pay last tributes to Syrti and to accompany the family members to the cremation ground, where his body will be cremated,” KSU Jalaphet unit president Emmon Chyrmang.
Ken Syrti was brutally assaulted by a group of five unidentified persons at Moopala village while he was on his way from Jalaphet to Khliehriat on his Maruti Alto on Friday last.
Meanwhile, Khliehriat Deputy Superintendent of Police, W Muksor said, “We have identified the miscreants and raid has been conducted but we could not arrest them as they were found to be absconding from the village”.
The brutal killing of Jalaphet Rangbah Shnong was condemned by Several Rangbah Shnong in East Jaintia hills besides others.
