Tripura Civil Service officer suspended on forgery charge

Agartala: The state government has suspended a senior Tripura Civil Service (TCS) officer from the service on Wednesday night on forgery charge.
An official release said senior Deputy Collector and Magistrate (DCM) of West Tripura, Pintu Lal Das, had been accused of manipulating Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC) of a lady teacher where he had put his name as her husband.
Allegedly, Das had an extra-marital relationship with the lady whose husband has been working outside the state in defence service.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Das with the consent of the lady forged her EPIC with Election Commission of India’s (ECI) hologram by deleting the name of her husband manually outside the system.
“It is also established that Das had a number of visit outside the state with the lady where he introduced her as his wife,” said a senior official of West Tripura district administration who is investigating of the case.
Das had done the tampering with the help of a technical assistant who had confessed the the crime. (UNI)
