SHILLONG: Political parties including the UDP and KHNAM have decided to take part in Saturday’s public rally.

Both the UDP and KHNAM have confirmed their participation in line with the invitation of the pressure groups.

UDP leader Jemino Mawthoh said that since the party is supporting the demand of the NGOs for implementation of ILP considering the issue of rampant influx in the State, the members of the party are expected to attend the rally. He, however, made it clear that it all depends on the individual whether they will attend the rally or not.

KHNAM president Adelbert Nongrum also confirmed that the party leaders will attend the rally on Saturday.

Meanwhile, HSPDP spokesperson G Nonglong refused to comment on the party’s presence at the public rally, saying, “We haven’t met lately to decide whether or not to attend the rally.”

HNYF, which is one of the organizers of the public rally, has said that they expect the support of all the main social organisations while expecting a turn up of thousands of people including members of political parties who have expressed their keen interest in taking part in the rally. The HNYF was hopeful of participation of Congress members in the rally.
