Jubilee Cup cricket
SHILLONG: United XI defeated the All Jaintia Cricket Association (AJCA) by 16 runs in the Platinum Jubilee Cup T20 Cricket Tournament, organised by the Shillong Cricket Association at Polo Grounds on Saturday.
United XI won the toss and chose to bat first.
They were only able to score 119 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their 20 overs, at a run rate of just under six an over.
Yogesh Tiwari top-scored with 38 from 26 balls.
Peter Lamare, Ricky Sailo and Piyush Patangia claimed two wickets each.
In reply, AJCA also struggled with batting and managed 103/9 in their full quota of overs.
Peter Lamare performed well with the bat as well, scoring 25 not out off 19 balls after coming in at number seven.
Andrew Thabah took three wickets for 19 runs.
After an opening partnership of 26 runs, AJCA struggled to build momentum with wickets falling regularly.
On Monday, Nagaland will face NFU.
