3 UALA cadres surrender

TURA: Three suspected collaborators of the United A’chik Liberation Army (UALA) have surrendered before authorities in Garo Hills. Three surrendered persons whom police claim to be hardcore members of the outfit did not deposit any weapon.

Police identified the three surrendered persons as Walith Marak (23), Sudendro A Sangma (21) and a teenager Tangring R Marak (19).

According to police, the teenager handed himself over on Saturday while the two others gave themselves up on Monday at Raksamgre under Dadenggre police station of West Garo Hills district.

West Garo Hills police maintain that the three deserted their camp to join the mainstream.The surrender comes less than a week since three hardcore UALA cadres belonging to the Norrok X Momin outfit were gunned down in an encounter at Chiokgre village of Williamnagar.
