NONGSTOIN: Nongstoin Police on Tuesday arrested HANM chief organizing secretary, West Khasi Hills district, Liver Paul John Kharbani for alleged involvement in several arson cases.
Kharbani was apprehended form his residence in New Nongstoin.
West Khasi Hills SP, Sylvester Nongtnger said that Kharbani was arrested for his alleged involvements in the torching of the PWD EE’s Office, Meghalaya Khadi and Village Industries Board Office, Fisheries Office and the District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Office in Nongstoin. It may be mentioned that the offices of the PWD and Meghalaya Khadi and Village Industries Board were completely torched while the Fisheries and District Animal Husbandry and Veterinary offices were partially burnt in the arson incidents.
It may be mentioned that after the arrest of HANM president (WKH unit), Arphul Kharbani and finance secretary, Gabriel Sohlang earlier in the year, all the members of the pressure-group in West Khasi Hills had gone into hiding.
