SHILLONG: For the brother-sister duo of Lyton Sicelo Moyo and Helen Dineo Supine, the death of their leader Nelson Mandela is an irreparable loss.
The duo hailing from Johannesburg lit candles and prayed for their departed leader at their stall put up at Madan Iew Rynghep, Laitumkhrah at the 8th International Shillong Shopping Carnival.
In Shillong, though they missed the collective tribute which they would have done if they were in Johannesburg, a photo of Mandela was placed at the shop ‘Lungisani Doingz Craft’ and floral tribute was paid after they got the news of the death of the iconic leader. Visitors at the stall also joined in paying tributes to the great leader.
The shop has traditional and artificial jewellery brought from Johannesburg.
“After they came to know that the leader of the masses is no more, they were very sad and they told us that they wanted to pay homage and we arranged Mandela’s photo, flowers and candles,” said the organizer of the Shopping Carnival.  This is for the first time that the two-member delegation from South Africa is participating in the Shillong Carnival.
