Aashiqui star Rahul Roy is making a comeback to the big screen after a gap of six years with psychological thriller To Be Or Not To Be, where he is playing a negative role. The film, which will simultaneously be released in English, revolves around a couple whose marriage is on the rocks. “The script of the film is brilliant and I was really looking for this kind of strong storyline to make my comeback.
The story has got everything and when people watch the film they will realise why I am saying so. I am happy with the way it is shaping up,” Rahul told.
In the film, Rahul is playing the character of a possessive husband. “Mine is a mad character. He questions a lot of thing about his marriage.
The story of the film is based on one night and every characters has dark shades,” he said. Being directed by Virendrra Lalit, To Be Or Not To Be will hit theatres mid next year.
The film also stars Telugu film actress Akansha Shivhare and newcomer Trivikram Matoo. Having started his career with 1990 Bollywood romantic musical drama Aashiqui, Rahul, 45, became a phenomenon with his debut hit. But he failed to replicate the success of his first film.
“I don’t look back at my career. My journey was not hard because I have seen stardom and the downfall very closely in my career. I have done films because I believed in them.
“I don’t want to blame someone for my downfall. I will continue doing films till my last breathe and will regain my respectability in the industry,” he added. Rahul took a break from the films when nothing exciting came his way only to witness a career revival following his win in reality TV show ‘Bigg Boss’ in 2006. “The serial also contributed to my career. It brought me into people’s mind and made me popular again after ‘Aashiqui’ as they voted for me to win,” he said. Rahul is also happy with way the ‘Aashiqui 2’, directed by Mohit Suri, was made. “It was a brilliant film. Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur recreated the same magic as Anu (Agarwal) and I did 23-years ago. Music was brilliant. Mohit made a brilliant film on today’s time. Though it didn’t make any new record in terms of the box-office collection, it was a good film,” he said. Rahul will be next seen in in a 3D film ‘Shoot Run Kill’. (PTI )
